That realisation is what led me to create Sacred & Seen: A 14-Day Devotion for the Invisible Work of Motherhood. In my own life, the hidden labour was beginning to feel like a weight, and I needed Scripture to remind me that what is unseen by others is never forgotten by God.
The verse that first breathed life into this kit was Matthew 6:4:
“Your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”
This was a balm for my heart. So much of motherhood happens “in secret”—the soothing of a child’s cries in the dark, the meals prepared before little hands even ask, the endless folding and tidying that quickly begins again. The world does not applaud these things, and often even our closest ones may not notice. Yet Scripture tells us that God does.
This reminder reshaped how I began to move through my day. The tasks themselves did not change, but the way I carried them did. A quiet prayer as I folded clothes became a way of blessing my family (even if those same clothes mysteriously returned to the laundry basket hours later). Preparing food became more than meeting a need; it became an offering of love.
I wanted other mothers to rest in this same reminder—that the unseen matters. Sacred & Seen grew out of my own need for encouragement and turned into a resource that says: You are not invisible. Your daily work is sacred.
Each devotion weaves together Scripture, reflection, and journaling prompts designed to help mothers notice God in the ordinary. One of my favourite reflections explores how Jesus Himself lived the majority of His earthly years in hidden, ordinary work. If the Son of God embraced the unseen, then our hidden years at the sink, in the nursery, or by the bedside of a restless child hold immeasurable worth too.
Writing and praying through these devotions brought me peace in the repetition. It gave me words for those moments when I questioned whether my efforts had value. It reminded me that God meets us not only in extraordinary acts of faith but in the quiet corners of daily life—corners often cluttered with toys that multiply overnight, despite no one remembering actually buying them.
The hidden work of motherhood is not wasted. It is often the very place where love is most deeply sown—through small gestures, whispered prayers, and faithfulness in what feels ordinary.
If you find yourself weary in the unnoticed tasks of motherhood, know that you are not unseen. God honours every act of love, however small, and nothing done with love is ever lost.
If you would like a companion in this journey, I invite you to explore the Sacred & Seen devotional kit in the Tales and Teachings store. It has helped me rediscover the holiness of hidden work, and I pray it will be a source of encouragement and peace for you as well.
